Utility Worker
As a Utility Worker, you play a crucial role in maintaining the operational efficiency and cleanliness of our fleet of vehicles. Your responsibilities include safely driving units to fuel stations, refueling with the appropriate fuel type, and ensuring DEF levels meet requirements. Beyond vehicle maintenance, you contribute to a clean and sanitized environment by regularly cleaning and disinfecting each unit's interior. Additionally, your duties involve inspecting fare boxes, vaulting cash boxes, and recording essential vehicle metrics.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Fuel Units with Diesel Fuel (Fuel Para Transit Units with Gasoline):
Refuel vehicles with the appropriate type of fuel as specified.
Monitor fuel levels and report any discrepancies.
Fill All Units with DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) When Required:
Check DEF levels in each vehicle and replenish as needed.
Follow proper procedures for handling DEF.
Clean Each Unit:
Perform regular cleaning tasks, including sweeping and mopping the floor of each vehicle.
Empty trash cans inside Units when necessary.
Sanitize/Disinfect Units:
Apply a sanitizing/disinfecting solution to all surfaces within the Units after cleaning.
Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are met.
Probe Fare Box and Vault Cash Boxes:
Daily inspection of fare boxes in each Unit.
Safely vault the cash box inside the fare box when possible.
Document Unit numbers with cash boxes that cannot be vaulted, providing reasons.
Record Mileage, Fuel, and DEF Amounts:
Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and DEF usage for each Unit.
Record this information before moving the vehicle from the pump.
Drive Units Safely to the Yard:
Safely navigate vehicles back to the yard after completing fueling and maintenance tasks.
Follow designated routes and parking protocols.
Park Units According to Designated Areas:
Ensure that each Unit is parked in its assigned parking area.
Adhere to parking guidelines and organizational policies.
Clean Work Area Daily:
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Perform end-of-shift cleaning to ensure a tidy and safe workspace.
Qualifications & Skills
Effective Communication:
Strong ability to prioritize work objectives and communicate work directives to staff in a professional, timely, and effective manner.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Organizational Skills:
Good organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks, schedules, and records efficiently.
Customer Service:
Possess a pleasant demeanor and a commitment to providing excellent customer service, both internally and externally.
Language Proficiency:
Fluent in English, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Bilingual skills (e.g., proficiency in Spanish or another relevant language) are a plus.
Background Check and Screening:
Must pass a complete background check, including drug screening and physical examination, to ensure compliance with company standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Site Supervisor.
Adapt to and take on new tasks as needed to support the organization.
Job Requirements
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
Possession of a valid CDL Class A, B or C Driver’s License.
Experience:
At least one (1) year of auto detailing experience.
At least one (1) year of probing and fueling experience.
At least one (1) year experience driving passenger buses with no preventable accidents.
