Assistant Fleet Manager - Shuttle Operations 

The Assistant Fleet Manager supports the management and oversight of the company’s fleet operations, ensuring all vehicles are properly maintained and operate at peak performance. This role assists with scheduling regular maintenance, tracking vehicle performance metrics, and coordinating repairs as needed. The Assistant Fleet Manager works closely with the Fleet Manager to ensure the fleet meets safety standards, complies with regulations, and supports operational efficiency.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Supervise a team of 10 employees responsible for fleet operations. 

  • Manage the care, maintenance, and repair scheduling for a fleet of 70 light- to medium-duty vehicles. 

  • Maintain computerized and manual records of fleet data, including maintenance schedules, vehicle performance, and repair histories. 

  • Obtain damage estimates for vehicles and coordinate necessary repairs. 

  • Monitor the fueling and cleaning of vehicles to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards. 

  • Oversee inventory control of vehicle parts, tools, and supplies. 

  • Ensure compliance with state Environmental Protection Division (EPD) and federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements. 

  • Supervise and assist with fueling, inspecting, and transporting out-of-service vehicles. 

  • Conduct routine inspections of vehicles, including lights, seats, floors, handrails, tires, and other components. 

  • Ensure daily fluid checks on assigned vehicles are completed. 

  • Perform visual inspections of tires for inflation, tread, damage, wear patterns, and proper installation of hub caps. 

  • Track and ensure the completion of weekly preventive maintenance (PM) inspections by fleet technicians. Assist with tasks like replacing screws, seats, lights, cleaning air conditioning filters, and more. 

  • Monitor and schedule bi-weekly preventive maintenance inspections for trucks and vans. 

  • Assist with routine maintenance, including replacing radios, lights, window latches, flashers, and handling special projects as needed. 

  • Help secure and position vehicles for washing, complete vehicle logs, and inspect vehicles after cleaning. 

  • Complete and submit daily reports, including Shift Activity Sheets, Fueling Data Sheets, Fluid Level Sheets, and Vehicle Logs. 

  • Make responsible and ethical decisions regarding company resources, adhering to Vectour Group's Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures, and ensuring compliance with company. 

Qualifications & Skills  

  • Availability to Work: Special shift requirements, if any, will vary depending on a location's hiring needs. If applicable, availability to work 3rd shift and/or weekends may be a requirement. 

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers and other employees of the company. 

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money. 

  • Appearance: Employees will be required to maintain a neat and clean appearance and be in complete uniform at all times. 

  • Background Check and Screening: Must pass a complete background check, including drug screening and physical examination, to ensure compliance with company standards. 

Job Requirements  

Education, Licensing, and Certifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.). 

  • Per DOT Regulations, you will be required to have and maintain a valid Class A, B or C Driver’s License depending on the location's hiring needs, with Passenger Endorsement if you will be responsible for operating shuttle buses with a passenger capacity of 15 passengers or more. 

  • DOT Medical Card: A Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Medical Card) is required. 

Experience: 

  • At least one (1) year proven experience working in or with a fleet management or fleet maintenance environment, ideally within the same industry.  

  • Strong understanding of fleet logistics and the importance of timely maintenance and repair to ensure optimal fleet performance. 

  • Minimum age of 21 years.

Salary  

  • $20.67 per hour 

  • Paid biweekly 

Proposed Hours + Travel  

  • FT – 8-hour shift 

  • Night shift 

  • Overnight shift 

  • Weekend availability
